Job Description:
Alken Systems Ltd are seeking an experienced CNC Turner who is competent running XYZ CNC lathes. We continue to invest in new machinery and over the last 18 months we have added 3 additional CNC milling machines and 2 additional lathes. We are now awaiting delivery of our newest XYZ CNC lathe – scheduled for early December – and need to add to our well-established team of CNC turners. You will receive full support on our products and methods of manufacture to assist you in settling into the role.

Our specialities include Manual and CNC Turning, Vertical Boring, Manual and CNC Milling, Fitting/Assembly, Sheet Metal, Fabrication and Welding.
Main Duties:
Programme / edit, set, and operate a CNC lathe in a busy low batch size machine shop.
Operating the machine to an acceptable production target whist maintaining a high standard of quality.
Performing First Offs and checking Quality.
Machine daily checks.
Working with the manager and supervisors to fulfil the Company’s policies and business objectives.
Making a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is healthy, safe, neat, and tidy.
Person Specification:
Time served machinist, experienced and competent on XYZ CNC lathe equipment.
Able to work to component drawings and adopt awareness to critical dimensions and surface finish – training on Alken Systems product will be given.
Experienced in machining a wide variety of stainless steels.
Knowledge of ISO based quality control systems would be beneficial.
Used to working to fine tolerances.
Able to work under own initiative or as part of a team.
Flexible, courteous, friendly, and positive approach.
Apprenticeship and/or Engineering qualifications are preferred.

Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience, negotiable at interview.
Holidays: 21 days holiday plus 8 statutory public holidays per year.
Hours of work: Day Shift – Monday to Thursday 08.00-17.00, Friday 08.00-13.00
Overtime available.
